Bridal fashion designers in the region are now internationally recognised for their innovation and creativity so brides and grooms can confidently shop right here knowing the designs they are choosing are blitzing the catwalks of Paris, London and New York - traditionally recognised as the fashion capitals of the world. Geelong, Victoria’s largest regional city, is less than an hours drive from Melbourne. Built on the shores of north-facing Corio Bay, it is a picturesque blend of waterfront, parks, gardens and beaches that provide wonderful locations for ceremonies, photographs and receptions whether for a relaxed styled wedding or more formal. The natural beauty of Corio Bay is enhanced by the newly transformed Waterfront Geelong, a destination perfect for outdoor weddings.
If you are planning a garden wedding, you may have your own beautiful garden or know someone who is willing to host your wedding. Otherwise there are a large number of public parks and gardens, many close to the city centre and each with their own special character, to choose from in Geelong. If you have chosen a public garden such as Geelong Botanic Gardens you will need to advise the local council up to three months in advance to avoid conflicting venue arrangements and arrange for any permits which may be necessary. The Council parks have designated sites that may be booked (sometimes for a fee). To marry in any of the parks, you must talk to the Geelong City Council. They can be contacted on (03) 5227 0270. See our outdoors wedding section for more information. |
