| Tristan and Sara have spent the past three and half years based in England. They came back to Brisbane in February 2005 for two weddings. “During this visit, Tristan asked my dad for my hand in marriage,” said Sara. What followed was an amazingly thoughtful and romantic proposal. Back in England, Tristan arranged to take Sara and her Mum to Budapest for a long weekend, celebrating Mum’s visit and her birthday. “After a relaxing afternoon at a hot spring, Tristan and I went for a sunset walk to the Fisherman’s Bastion where the question was asked and accepted! After three nights of celebrating in Budapest it was back to London, where I started online wedding planning.”
Sara and Tristan returned to Brisbane last July, and decided on Noosa Springs for the wedding venue. “We chose Noosa Springs not only because of the location on Lake Weyba and it’s stunning grounds but because the resort is set up for the ceremony, reception and accommodation. It made it really easy for us and our guests to relax and enjoy the wedding.
A number of things made the day really special for me, having all of our friends and family with us to celebrate our marriage was a big highlight, when I walked down the isle it was amazing to see everyone who is special to me in the one place! We were also really lucky with the weather, it had been raining all night and when I got up I was sure we’d being having the ceremony indoors. It rained just before our ceremony, but stopped just as my dad and I arrived so we were able to have the ceremony as planned in the beautiful setting on Lake Weyba. My favourite memory would be when Tristan and I met for the first time in our wedding outfits. We had our photos taken before the ceremony so our photographer, Yanni, arranged a private meeting. Tristan looked so happy and calm, it really helped me to relax and enjoy the day.
The day after the wedding we invited all of our guests to a BBQ in the Noosa National Park – it was a great way to catch up with everyone who had travelled a long way and to introduce our English guests to the goannas and even a koala. After the wedding we spent three weeks relaxing in Thailand for our honeymoon. First we spent time in Bangkok shopping and then on to Phuket to spend time relaxing at the beach. We even managed to get in a few days of snorkelling and a day of sea canoeing around the islands. All in all, it was the perfect start to our life together,” finishes Sara.
